January 29 Update

January 29, 2019
Good afternoon, all –

I hope you’re staying warm and well as the polar vortex freezes us all. We will have rehearsal this afternoon at WMS!

A few reminders:
  • All communications sent to the distribution list are also available on our blog: http://cps5honorschoir.blogspot.com/
  • Rehearsals begin at 4:00pm and end at 5:15pm. Please do not enter the choir room before 3:45, as there are middle school rehearsals in session. Singers should be picked up from rehearsal no later than 5:25pm. Thank you for respecting the evening commitments of the Honors Choir staff.
  • Solo auditions for our spring concert will be held on March 12 during Honors Choir rehearsal.
  • The window has closed to sign up your student for the MET Opera viewing this Saturday, February 2. I will send a detailed itinerary to those who signed up.
  • As with our previous opera trip, students will meet at Locust St. Expressive Arts School at 8:30am to learn about opera and the music from Carmen before traveling to Forum 8 Theater to watch the opera. Please pack a sack lunch for your child, as school cafeterias will be closed on the weekend. The opera begins at 11:55am at Forum 8 Theater and will last for approximately 3 hours, 45 minutes with intermissions in between each act. We will return to Locust St. Expressive Arts School shortly after 4:00pm for pick-up.
  • T-Shirt Update: It’s not too late to purchase Honors Choir T-shirts! Shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $10 each. Checks must be made payable to Columbia Public Schools. Please write Honors Choir in the memo line.
  • Honors Choir singers are not required to purchase a t-shirt. We encourage students to wear these to Honors Choir events and on Honors Choir field trips; however, they may also choose to wear something representative of their home school.
  • If your student will be absent from any Honors Choir rehearsal or event, please email me as soon as possible.
