Parent Information Meeting Video

Hi all!

Our first rehearsal went well! In case you missed the meeting, here is a video of Mr. Battle's talk at the meeting. If you need the informational packet, please find me (Ms. Hoeppner) after rehearsal next week and I'll hook you up! If you need to fix and email issue or report an absence, please email me at jhoeppner@cpsk12.org

See you next week!

Alright. That didn't work. YouTube didn't like the length of our 17 minute video. The major points of Mr. Battles words last night:

  • Welcome to our 28th year of Columbia 5th Grade Honors Choir!
  • If you're not getting email, please get your email to Ms. Hoeppner ASAP!
  • Rehearsals are Tuesdays at Lange Middle School choir room (91) from 4:15-5:15 pm.
  • The earliest you may drop off children is 4:00 pm.
  • You may drop off and pick up at the Lange circle drive.
  • Please pick up no later than 5:30 pm. If there is an emergency, please find another ride for them. Also, try and let us know. Emailing me at jhoeppner@cpsk12.org is probably your best bet to let us know.
  • All honors choir students will be in their home school choirs to be in honors choir. Non-negotiable.
  • Students may miss no more than 3 rehearsals. If they will be absent, please email Ms. Hoeppner with the reason.
  • If your student misses school on a Tuesday, they may not attend honors choir that afternoon.
  • Honors choir students are a representative of their home schools. If there is a behavior issue at school, Mr. Battle will have one conversation with the student asking them to fix the issue. If they do not, they will be asked to leave honors choir.
  • Mr. Battle, Ms. Hoeppner, Ms. Lenz, and Mr. Melton will all be helping with honors choir this year.
  • Dress for concerts include black from waist to toe. Black tights/hose with black skirts or black pants and black pants with black shoes. All must have a white shirt with a collar that buttons to the top. Polo shirts are fine, but their shirt must have a collar and button to the top to hold the tie they will be given to wear.
  • The sleeve length of the shirt does not matter, because the students will have a cardigan over the shirt.
  • If you cannot provide these attire pieces, please let Mr. Battle know and he will help.
  • Fundraising info is part of the packet you received (or will get from Ms. Hoeppner next week). Fundraising is not required, but it helps the choir do more. If your family would rather make a donation in lieu of the fundraiser, that is fine. Checks can be made to Columbia Public Schools with Honors Choir in the memo. (We get a 40% return on this fundraiser.)
  • We raise funds for music, extra concert attire, and our Kansas City trip in April.
  • Honors Choir t-shirts are $10. The order form is part of your packet. Please turn them in to Ms. Hoeppner by September 22nd. There are both youth and adult sizes, even though the sheet says youth only.
  • Parents are welcome to wait in the Lange commons area if they would like, but there might be activities happening there. Otherwise, drop off and pick up is in the Lange circle drive by the main entrance.
